THE ROYAL CITY

Johor Bahru got its name in 1866 by the Sultan Abu Bakar after it being called Iskandar Puteri. The city held it's majestic elements ever since as the state of rule of the johor sultanate.
Visitors till this day still can feel the Royal powers that a place can radiate thought the monumental scales, the elegant designs and royal gardens.

Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque

Was completed in 1900 after 8 years of construction, its architect Tuan Haji Mohamed Arif bin Punak was inspired by the English Victorian style clock towers for the 4 minarets of the mosque

Sultan Ibrahim Building

Since its completion in1940, this building had served the purpose of the state secretariat building and chief minister's office, further establishing the role of Johor bahru as the city were decisions are made. In 2009 the building is no longer in use. Its unique architecture and image has made him a famous city attraction and giving it it's new role as a cultural landmark.
